The Department of English Language and Literature at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Educational Linguistics at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2014. Secondary specialization is open. The successful candidate will teach a 3/3 course load in areas including Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, methods for teaching grammar, second language literacy, language acquisition, introductory linguistics, and composition. In addition, he or she will assist in course and program development as well as mentoring practicum students. The position offers the opportunity to work with graduate students in the department?s MA TESOL program; undergraduate students in the department?s teaching majors/minors (ESL minor, English major/minor, Language Arts major/minor); and English language learners in the university?s English Language Institute and Mount Pleasant Public Schools.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for this position must have their Ph.D. in Educational or Applied Linguistics or a related field in hand by August 2014. Evidence of successful college teaching and an active research program are required.
Preferred Qualifications: K-12 teaching experience preferred.
