Woman charged with murder in baseball bat beating

DENVER ? A suburban Denver woman accused of beating a man to death with a baseball bat because she suspected him of sexually molesting a child has been formally charged.

The Denver Post reports (http://bit.ly/1fN40vH ) 30-year-old Forsythia Owen, of Englewood, appeared in Arapahoe County court Friday on several charges, including first-degree murder after deliberation and first-degree assault with a deadly weapon. She is expected to enter a plea Dec. 12.

Englewood police say Owen told them she killed 42-year-old Denzel Rainey as he was sleeping in an alley because a child accused the man of sexually abusing her. Rainey was found early Sunday with lacerations to his head and a skull fracture.

Both of his arms, six ribs and his left hand were broken. He died of his injuries at a hospital.
