Orem, Utah Skateboarding Skate Park ? Mini Ramps, Flat Bars ...

Orem, Utah only has one skate park that I know of, and it is a blast for sure! I really enjoy the set up of the park, and how it encourages skateboarders and bikers alike to get really creative when it comes to putting together lines and getting any kind of flow. That is actually a common complaint that I hear when ?new comers? to the park talk about it; that there is a lack of flow to the park and it is hard to put together lines. I beg to differ, and whether you?re a transition skater or a street skater, if you?re creative this park is sick.

I would venture to say that Utah skateboarding would not be the same if the Orem skate park was not around. There have been quite a few legit kids that have called the Orem park home. Guys like: Devin York, Aaron Lopez, Dave Farr, Shylio Sweat, Trent Saez, and many others!

My personal favorite feature is the flat bar. Its got perfect height, length, width, and is just in general a good time. Tons of ledges, little transitions, and ins and outs that make this park super unique.

If there were a few things that I would change, I would make some of the transitions smoother, redo a the bowl, and put the handrail and stair set in a different spot. There is not a lot of run way, and if you are goofy footed, backside tricks are hard to do because of other features of the park get in the way, and on that same note, regular footers have a harder time with frontside tricks.

There is a really fun pyramid feature in the middle of the park that has pretty decent tranny and is in good location. I don?t think I would have too many people argue with me if I said that Aaron Lopez owns that pyramid as far as the arsenal of tricks that he has thrown down on that thing.

Every once in a while there a some contests that go down, and that always generates a big crowd. There have been a few pro demos as well. One of my fondest memories was being able to see Ryan Gallant just destroy everything he skated!

If you?re ever in Utah and want to do some skateboarding, make sure to stop by the Orem Skate park. It?s located just off I-15 and the center street exit on 12th west and 4th north!
